Moments of Giving: Boaz,Yael, Amit[ 02/05/2010 ]

Boaz, Yael  Ophir and Amit-

When Yad Sarah Made it Possible
to Bring The Twin Baby Home

Boaz and Yael from the city of Modi'in in central Israel were happy with the news that they were the proud parents of twins, a boy and a girl Ophir and Amit. They prepared all that was needed for babies in their home. But after Yael gave birth they learned that one very important and much needed item was missing: They very urgently needed an apnea monitor for their new born son, Amit.

Boaz:  "I turned to Yad Sarah for help. It was the head of the special equipment department, Meir Grinwald, who personally brought me the device to Tel Hashomer Hospital. The response from Yad Sarah was quick, efficient and very warm. It made all the difference in the world for me to be able to bring the twins home to start their new life together with us instead of leaving the little baby boy at the hospital.

"Now I spent my nights at home with my baby boy with the monitor at an audible level. If something happens the monitor makes a sound and I wake up and take care of the baby. I would not want anyone else to do it. It is my baby and I take care of his health problem near meat home. We have a division of labor. My wife takes care of the baby twin girl. I take care of Amit".

Bringing home a baby from the hospital with an apnea monitor is a whole new life experience.

The apnea monitors keep track of the baby's respiration and heart rate so having it at home, and knowing how to resuscitate the infant if necessary, can be life-saving. The parents must not to be far from the monitor for more than a few seconds, especially if the baby tends to have frequent episodes of apnea, cessation of breathing, and bradycardia, slow heart rate. But Boaz would not have it any other way. He would not go home leaving Amit behind at the hospital. The life of his baby is in his handsat home. Yad Sarah made it possible.
