The Yomiuri Shimbun, with 12 million circulation the largest Japanese daily newspaper, has published a half-page long feature article about Yad Sarah.
The article, accompanied by a photo of volunteers at work repairing equipment and a map of Israel showing the spread of Yad Sarah branches, was part of a series the paper is running about social services around the world.
The newspaper’s Jerusalem bureau chief, who chose Yad Sarah to represent Israel, toured Yad Sarah House and interviewed people there. In the article he enumerated Yad Sarah’s various services, stressed the extra load because of terror attacks, and headlined the story as follows: ”Free Lending of Medical Equipment – Yad Sarah, an Israeli NGO – Saves the National Economy $250 Million [per year]”. He quoted some of the people who use Yad Sarah’s services and spotlighted the personal story of Shoshana Katzav, who was injured in a terror attack a few years ago, was helped by Yad Sarah, and now volunteers for the organization.
