Yad Sarah marked the generous donation of medical equipment by Johannesburg Jewry in a ceremony which was held on December 10th at Yad Sarah House in Jerusalem.
The event was attended by His Excellency, the South African Ambassador to Israel, Mr. Johann Marx, Mr. Uri Lupolianski, founder and chairman of Yad Sarah, as well as by representatives of the Zionist Federation of South Africa.
Ambassador Marx: “As we are all only too aware, the equipment arrives here at a time when health services in Israel are facing great demands on their resources, as a result of the ongoing tragic conflict with the palestinians…
“The donation, in my view, therefore reflects not only the support and commitment to Israel by those South Africans who regard this country as their spiritual home, but also their anguish and understanding of the very personal trauma and loss which such an unfortunate conflict brings about.”
Hundreds pairs of Crutches, 140 wheelchairs, infusion stands and hospitals beds were among items donated to Yad Sarah to be used through Yad Sarah’s branches all over Israel. The stock of medical equipment is low on critical items such as wheelchairs, which are in heavy demand due to the bombings, as well as other orthopedic items like crutches and walkers.
The initiative for this massive donation is the merit of Mrs. Robyn Kanichowsky , who is a friend of Yad Sarah in Raanana.
