At a very special Tu Bishvat planting ceremony at “Shikumon” – Yad Sarah’s Jerusalem Rehabilitation Center, more than 20 participants planted flowers in window boxes as part of the center's “Rehabilitation Through Flowers” program. The people at the center, some of whom have suffered stroke or have been injured in traffic acccidents participate in an array of therapies: music, drama and art therapies, as well as computer and plant therapy.
Plant therapy involves putting moistened earth into flower pots, tamping the earth, forming a small ditch, planting the seeds and watering. In one of the most popular rehabilitation activities at the center, participants' spirits are greatly strengthened by such close connection to the power of renewal and growth.
